San Diego County Enjoys Warmer Weather Despite Phil’s Prediction

While Punxsutawney Phil forecasts six more weeks of winter, residents of San Diego County experience unseasonably warm weather. The National Weather Service (NWS) has predicted a significant rise in temperatures from Tuesday through Thursday, accompanied by Santa Ana winds.

High temperatures on Tuesday are expected to reach between 71°F and 76°F near the coast, 77°F to 82°F inland, and 80°F to 84°F in the western valleys. Areas near the foothills will see temperatures between 76°F and 81°F, while mountain regions may register 64°F to 74°F. The deserts will experience the highest temperatures, soaring between 81°F and 85°F.

Coastal communities may encounter patchy dense fog that could linger into Tuesday morning. As offshore winds develop on Wednesday, this fog is anticipated to dissipate along the coastline.

Weather Outlook and Conditions

The Santa Ana winds are forecast to strengthen from Wednesday into Thursday, particularly affecting the mountainous areas of the county. Wind gusts may occasionally exceed 50 mph in some mountain passes, although overall wind speeds are expected to remain below advisory levels.

As the week progresses, temperatures will cool from Friday through the weekend due to a shift to onshore flow. The NWS has noted the potential for a low-pressure system to bring rain on Friday afternoon, along with a slight chance of thunderstorms. Showers may continue into Saturday, depending on the storm’s trajectory.

Forecasters are also monitoring the possibility of cooler and wetter weather early next week as additional systems approach San Diego County. This shift could significantly alter the current warm conditions enjoyed by residents.
