Remembering Robert A. Yantiss: Celebrated Woodworker Passes Away
The community of Swanzey, New Hampshire, is mourning the loss of a beloved craftsman and family man, Robert Allan Yantiss, who passed away on August 27, 2025, at the age of 78. Known for his exceptional skills in woodworking and his contributions to local craftsmanship, Yantiss leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.
Born on June 13, 1947, in San Diego, California, Yantiss was the son of Alvin C. Yantiss and Gladys F. Yantiss. He established his own building company, the Robert A. Yantiss Company, where he specialized as a finish carpenter. His unique creations included intricate woodwork and personalized pet urns, which he provided to local veterinarians, showcasing both his artistry and compassion.
Yantiss was not only skilled in woodworking; he also excelled in glassware engraving and laser etching. His wealth of knowledge extended beyond his trade, reflecting a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and creativity. Friends and family remember him not only for his skills but also for his passion for travel and exploration.
He is survived by his daughter, Gretchen Jackson, and her husband, William Jackson Sr., of Swanzey; his son, Seth Yantiss, and his wife, Jennifer, of Jacksonville, Florida; and three grandchildren: Taylor Jackson, Natalie Arvin, and Evan Cleaveland. He is also remembered by his brother, Ronald Yantiss, and his wife, Sue, of Surry.
A Celebration of Life for Robert Yantiss is scheduled for September 19, 2025, from 17:00 to 19:00 at the Foley Funeral Home, located at 49 Court St., Keene. The family invites all who knew him to attend and share their memories.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor his memory may consider making a donation to the Harris Center for Conservation Education, located at 83 Kings Highway, Hancock, NH 03449. Contributions can also be made through their website at harriscenter.org.
