Regional Piano Students Shine in NEPA Music Auditions

The NEPA Music Teachers Association recently conducted auditions for students aspiring to perform in the annual Sutton Recitals. This prestigious event is scheduled to take place at Darte Hall, located on the campus of Wilkes University.

The auditions featured a panel of judges, including renowned music educators Ann Manganiello and David Meehan. The event was chaired by Leonarda Sperrazza, with Andrea Bogusko serving as co-chair and Valerie Grabiec overseeing the theory test. These recitals are a significant highlight for young musicians, offering them an opportunity to showcase their talents.

The state-level PMTA Sutton Recitals will follow in November at Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, further expanding the platform for talented musicians across the region.

Several instructors from the NEPA Music Teachers Association had students auditioning for this year’s recitals. Notable teachers included Andrea Bogusko, Sheila Butkiewicz, Erica Castaldo, Roxanne Condel, Louis A. Jablowski, Judith Miller, Michele Millington, Diane Shuleski, and Marianna Stahl.

A number of students performed exceptionally well, earning silver and gold medals for their efforts. Among the award recipients were Eli DeMarco, Lucas Voica, Zara Patel, Paxton Bunnell, and Myra Patel. The complete list of medalists also includes Katie Dreier, Aryana Bhatti, and Gwen Johns, along with other distinguished performers from various backgrounds.

The second row of medal recipients featured talented musicians such as Krish Bajaj, Ryna Bajaj, and Lexi Cazaubon, among others. In the third row, notable names included John Fedor, Dyan Dinstel, and Alexis Stec, showcasing a diverse array of talent. Additional participants included Arushi Solgama, contributing to the impressive group of aspiring musicians.

These auditions not only highlight the dedication and skill of young pianists in the region but also emphasize the commitment of educators and institutions in fostering musical talent. The annual Sutton Recitals are anticipated events that celebrate the hard work and achievements of these students, ensuring that the love for music continues to thrive in the community.
