Ninja Swirl Ice Cream Maker Delivers Creamy Treats, But Has Drawbacks

The highly anticipated Ninja Creami Swirl ice cream maker has entered the market, generating excitement among dessert enthusiasts. After its initial teaser in January, many consumers eagerly awaited its arrival. Now available through NinjaKitchen, the Creami Swirl stands out with its 13 one-touch programs and a soft-serve handle that dispenses up to four small cones from a single container.
The machine’s dimensions—15 inches wide, 10 inches deep, and 17 inches tall—mean it requires substantial counter space, making it challenging to fit under most kitchen cabinets. Weighing in at 20 pounds, the unit can be cumbersome to lift. A pair of pint containers is included, featuring a unique locking base that serves as a soft-serve dispenser.
One of the key limitations of the Swirl, like its predecessors, is the 24-hour wait for ice cream mixtures to freeze. After filling the container with two vanilla protein shakes to the maximum fill line, the user returned the next day to find the mixture ready.
Using the ‘Lite Soft Serve’ setting, the low-fat mixture transformed into a smooth texture without requiring a re-spin, which is often necessary with other models. In terms of noise, the Swirl operates at a measurement of 84dB, louder than previous models, and the process took over four minutes.
Dispensing the ice cream involves pulling down a lever on the side of the machine. While achieving a perfect swirl can be tricky, the machine includes a drip tray to manage any spills. Flavor-wise, the soft-serve received positive feedback for its ultra-smooth and creamy consistency, with the taste closely resembling full-fat ice cream despite being a protein shake variant.
Despite its melting speed, which necessitated a quick consumption, the Swirl offers a tasty alternative for those aiming to meet their daily protein goals while enjoying dessert. A complete review is forthcoming, but initial impressions suggest that this machine could significantly enhance the dessert-making experience for health-conscious consumers.
