Ninja Creami Swirl Ice Cream Maker Reviewed: Pros and Cons Unveiled

The highly anticipated Ninja Creami Swirl ice cream maker has made its debut, captivating dessert enthusiasts with its promise of homemade soft-serve ice cream. According to a review by Tom’s Guide, the device is a significant upgrade in the Creami line, enabling users to transform store-bought protein shakes into creamy, high-protein treats.
Design and Features
The Ninja Creami Swirl is designed to impress with its array of features. It comes equipped with 13 one-touch programs and a soft-serve handle that dispenses up to four small cones from a single container. However, its dimensions—15 inches wide, 10 inches deep, and 17 inches tall—mean it occupies considerable counter space and may not fit under standard kitchen cabinets. Weighing in at 20 pounds, it can be cumbersome to move.
Included with the machine are two pint containers, which have a locking base that facilitates soft-serve dispensing. Users must wait 24 hours for their ice cream mix to freeze, which can be frustrating for those eager to enjoy their creations.
Performance Review
In testing, the reviewer filled the container with two vanilla protein shakes, reaching the maximum fill line, and returned to them the following evening. The machine’s ‘Lite Soft Serve’ setting proved effective, producing a smooth texture on the first attempt—an achievement that often requires multiple tries with other models.
While the noise level was noted at 84 decibels, which was louder than previous iterations, the extra-soft texture needed for soft-serve may explain the increased sound. The process took just over four minutes, surpassing the typical duration for the Creami Deluxe.
Dispensing the ice cream requires pulling down a lever, but achieving an aesthetically pleasing swirl can be challenging. Despite the occasional mess, the machine includes a drip tray to minimize cleanup.
Flavor-wise, the soft-serve impressed with its creamy consistency, making it difficult to distinguish from traditional full-fat ice cream. The reviewer highlighted that it melted quickly, necessitating a prompt consumption to enjoy the treat at its best.
While a complete review is forthcoming, the Ninja Creami Swirl appears to be a noteworthy addition for those balancing their dessert cravings with protein intake. As the market for health-focused kitchen appliances grows, this machine could appeal to fitness enthusiasts eager for indulgent yet nutritious options.
