Neil and Susan Amondson Celebrate 50 Years of Love and Adventure
On January 10, 2026, Neil and Susan (Wark) Amondson marked their 50th wedding anniversary in a celebration that reflects their deep roots and enduring love. The couple began their journey together in Morton, Washington, a small town shaped by close-knit community values and a love for the outdoors. Their life together has been an adventure filled with shared experiences and personal achievements.
Neil and Susan have two children, Christy Webster, a nurse practitioner based in Tacoma, and Mark Amondson, a landscaper in Holland, Michigan. They cherish their time with granddaughter Lucy and son-in-law Randy Webster, who reside in Olympia. Their family ties are particularly noteworthy; in a twist of fate, Susan’s father, Dr. J. Arnold Wark, co-owner of Morton Hospital, delivered Neil at birth, long before becoming his father-in-law.
Career Highlights and Personal Achievements
Both Neil and Susan are graduates of Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma. Following their education, they settled in Centralia, where they began raising their family. Susan has built a distinguished career in nursing and currently serves as a resource nurse at Eisenhower Medical Center in Southern California. Her passion for the outdoors has led her to remarkable achievements, including a world record set at age 54. She has also trekked to Everest Base Camp, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Rainier, and recently completed the challenging Camino de Santiago, spanning over 500 miles.
Neil’s career took him from his small-town roots to significant roles in public service. He represented Southwest Washington in the Washington State House and Senate from 1987 to 1994. Following his time in office, he pivoted to private development, managing projects such as Liberty Plaza in Chehalis and overseeing the Winlock Industrial Park. An avid sportsman, Neil now shares his experiences and adventures through his podcast, Up a Creek with Neil.
A Lasting Legacy of Faith and Family
Today, Neil and Susan reside in Central Oregon but spend their winters in Southern California. Their marriage, grounded in faith, family, perseverance, and shared purpose, serves as a testament to their dedication to each other and their community. As they celebrate this milestone, the Amondsons continue to inspire those around them with their commitment to living life to the fullest.
