Lewisville Partners with Groundwork Outreach for Child Care Survey
Residents of Lewisville, particularly in the 75057 neighborhoods, may soon experience an improvement in local child care services. This enhancement is a result of a new collaboration between the City of Lewisville and the nonprofit organization, Groundwork Outreach. The partnership aims to assess the community’s child care needs through a detailed survey, as outlined in the city’s official press release.
Starting on November 4, 2023, representatives from Groundwork Outreach will begin canvassing the neighborhoods, engaging directly with residents until December 15, 2023. This initiative seeks to collect valuable data that reflects the concerns and requirements of families regarding child care options. The city hopes that the insights gathered during this period will inform future policy decisions and service enhancements.
The initiative is supported by a grant from the International City/County Managers Association’s Economic Mobility and Opportunity Cohort. This funding will aid in ensuring that the survey effectively captures the voices of local families. With a population of approximately 16,800 and encompassing 6,600 households, the data collected is expected to play a critical role in shaping future community programs.
Marie Appel, Founder of Groundwork Outreach, emphasized the significance of child care, stating, “Childcare is a cornerstone for family stability and community growth.” Her comments highlight the essential role that accessible child care services play in fostering a healthy community.
The City of Lewisville is demonstrating its commitment to understanding the needs of its residents. Ashleigh Feryan, Assistant Director of the Department of Neighborhood Services & Inspection Services, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. She stated, “We are excited to partner with Groundwork Outreach to reach families directly in their own neighborhoods and in their own voices.”
This proactive approach reflects the city’s dedication to addressing issues that affect the daily lives of its citizens. By prioritizing direct engagement with families, Lewisville aims to enhance access to vital services and respond effectively to the needs of its community.
As the survey progresses, the city anticipates that the feedback will guide the development of improved child care solutions, fostering a supportive environment for families in Lewisville.
