The Humboldt Senior Resource Center (HSRC) is actively promoting healthy aging through a variety of programs designed to support older adults, their families, and caregivers. These initiatives include nutrition services, support programs, and opportunities for community engagement. Individuals seeking assistance can contact HSRC’s Community Resources coordinator at 707-443-9747 for help in locating the appropriate program or service.

Senior Nutrition Services

HSRC’s Senior Nutrition program offers a regular schedule at several locations. The Heritage Café operates in Arcata from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Tuesday to Friday, with a dedicated line at 707-825-2027. In Eureka, the café is available Monday through Thursday during the same hours, and can be reached at 707-443-9747. For residents in Fortuna, the café serves meals on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from noon to 12:30 p.m., with inquiries directed to 707-725-6245.

For those unable to dine in, HSRC provides pick-up meals at various locations. In McKinleyville, meals can be collected at the Senior Center on Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. (contact 707-496-7036), while Rio Dell offers pick-up on Fridays at the Volunteer Fire Hall during the same time. Additionally, Willow Creek residents can pick up meals on Thursdays at the VFW from 11:00 a.m. to noon.

Reservations are encouraged for both in-person dining and meal pick-up. Interested individuals should contact their preferred Heritage Café location to secure a spot. Further details, including menus and activity schedules, are available on the HSRC website and at each Heritage Café.

Expanding Services and Community Involvement

HSRC is also accepting referrals for new enrollments in various programs, including Adult Day Health, Behavioral Health Services, and Meals on Wheels Redwood Coast. The Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP) and Redwood Coast PACE are also available to eligible individuals. These programs aim to enhance the quality of life for seniors by providing vital resources and support.

In addition to these services, Redwood Coast Village welcomes both new members and volunteers, fostering a sense of community and support among older adults. For more information on any of these programs, interested parties are encouraged to reach out to HSRC at 707-443-9747 or visit their website at www.humsenior.org.

HSRC’s commitment to promoting healthy aging underscores the importance of community resources in supporting the well-being of older adults. With dedicated services and opportunities for engagement, HSRC continues to play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of seniors in the Humboldt area.
