Highdro: The Rapper Turning Fear of Snakes into Passionate Pursuit
American rapper Highdro has transformed his lifelong fear of snakes into a thriving passion that intertwines his love for music, cannabis, and reptiles. In an interview with High Times, he shared how a childhood encounter with a snake shifted his fear into fascination, ultimately leading him to raise these misunderstood creatures and incorporate them into his artistic expression. “From that moment on, I was hooked,” he reflected on the pivotal experience that changed his perspective.
Highdro’s journey into overcoming fear is marked by significant life experiences. To confront his fear of heights, he famously jumped out of an airplane and later took up rock climbing. Yet, it was his fear of snakes that remained unchallenged until he decided to embrace it. After overcoming this challenge, he began successfully raising snakes, viewing them as more than just reptiles. “Snakes taught me that fear is a story we tell ourselves,” he explained, emphasizing the transformative power of facing one’s fears.
In a surprising twist, Highdro highlighted the therapeutic potential of snakes. He believes in what he calls “reptile therapy,” where interactions with snakes can offer emotional and psychological benefits. “Snakes offer a different kind of connection energy. They are silent, calm, and predictable,” he stated. This unique bond contrasts sharply with the fear often propagated by Hollywood, which he argues has unfairly demonized these animals.
Highdro’s fascination with snakes parallels his enthusiasm for cannabis. He asserts that both worlds share similarities, particularly in their genetic complexities. “My history growing weed definitely gave me an edge in understanding how snake genetics work,” he noted. This intersection of interests has led him to explore cannabis’s impact on his creativity, claiming it allows him to slow down and think clearly.
The rapper’s relationship with RAW Rolling Papers has also played a pivotal role in his career. “I found my first pack trying to quit blunts, and I couldn’t stop talking about them,” he recalled. His passion for the brand led to a long-lasting partnership, as RAW has supported his music for nearly two decades. “It still feels like family,” he said, underscoring the brand’s significance in his life.
As Highdro continues to explore new creative avenues, he is currently working on music influenced by his experiences with reptiles. “The reptile world deserves an anthem,” he declared, hinting at upcoming tracks that will blend his love for snakes with his musical talent. He aims for his music to inspire others to confront their fears and embrace their true selves. “If someone leaves feeling more capable than they did before pressing play, I’ve done my job,” he explained.
Looking ahead, Highdro is set to embark on a journey to Spain and plans to release an exclusive album dedicated to Josh Kesselman and the RAW family. This album will further honor his connection to snakes and cannabis, highlighting the intertwined nature of his passions.
As Highdro prepares for the next chapter in his artistic journey, his story serves as a reminder that fear can be transformed into something beautiful. Through his music, he hopes to inspire others to challenge their own perceptions and embrace the unexpected. The world awaits the arrival of Highdro’s unique sound, which promises to resonate with a diverse audience.
