Elwyn Raymond Van Enwyck, a cherished member of the Savannah community, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the age of 98. He was known for his kind heart and strong work ethic, leaving a lasting impression on all who met him.

Born on April 13, 1927, in Palmyra, New York, Elwyn was the son of the late Raymond and Mary Vania (Niles) Van Enwyck. He spent his entire life in Wayne County, primarily residing in Marion, Newark, and most recently, Savannah. Elwyn dedicated over thirty years of his professional life to the American Can Company in Fairport, New York, where his colleagues appreciated his diligence and friendly demeanor.

Elwyn’s legacy continues through his family. He is survived by his sons, Donald Elwyn Van Enwyck and Raymond Van Enwyck (Patricia), as well as his grandchildren, Amber Walters (Andrew), Courtney Van Enwyck, and Joshua, Nichole, and Donald K. Van Enwyck. His wife, Sarah Frances Necessary, predeceased him in 2005, along with his sister, Neva May Claeysen, who passed away in 2000.

Graveside Service Scheduled

Friends and family are invited to honor Elwyn’s memory during a graveside service on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 11 a.m. The service will take place at Furnaceville Rural Cemetery, located on Trimble Road in Ontario, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a charity of one’s choice, reflecting Elwyn’s spirit of giving and compassion.
