Dubai’s Jumeirah Bay Island Villa Lists for $81.6 Million
A luxurious beachfront villa on Jumeirah Bay Island in Dubai has been listed for a staggering $81.6 million. Known as Casa Maya, this opulent residence reflects the extravagant lifestyle associated with Dubai while showcasing innovative architectural design.
Jumeirah Bay Island is a man-made marvel shaped like a seahorse, situated just off the coast of Dubai. The island is renowned for its stunning artificial landscapes and upscale amenities, including the prestigious Bvlgari Resort, which attracts visitors with its marina, apartments, and high-end hotel accommodations starting at approximately $1,200 per night.
Casa Maya serves as both a statement piece and a retreat, designed to evoke the feel of a family beach home. The villa spans over 10,000 square feet and features five bedrooms, which can be expanded to seven, along with three living rooms, four kitchens, a home office, a cinema, and expansive outdoor terraces.
Architectural Highlights and Sustainable Design
The entrance to Casa Maya is striking, featuring a five-meter-high (16-foot) copper door crafted by the acclaimed Italian brand De Castelli. This door’s oxidized surface shifts with the Gulf light, creating a dynamic visual impact. A mashrabiya skylight above filters sunlight into intricate geometric patterns that dance across the interior.
One of the villa’s most impressive features is a suspended terrazzo staircase that rises 12 meters (39 feet) above a glossy black piano, setting a dramatic tone for the home. The materials used throughout have been selected for their durability and aesthetic appeal, including white concrete for insulation and custom terrazzo flooring.
Eco-friendly elements are integrated into the design, featuring solar panels and smart home systems that enhance comfort and efficiency. A private outdoor space includes a gourmet kitchen, a luxurious pool that extends to the sandy beach, and a spa surrounded by landscaped gardens. The outdoor setting is designed for leisure, with colorful Paola Lenti sofas and a dining area made from Sicilian lava stone, perfect for alfresco dining.
The Journey to Creation
Casa Maya is the culmination of a collaborative effort involving two design firms, Candy London and Qeblawi Brooks, alongside multiple consultants and an engaged owner who visited the site regularly during the three-year construction period. The villa’s location was deliberately chosen for its alignment with the setting Arabian sun, providing breathtaking views at dusk.
Despite its grandeur, the owner notes that the villa has become too large for the family, with their daughters now away at university. “It’s too much house for the three of us,” the owner remarked, indicating a readiness to sell and move on to new adventures.
The listing is managed by Driven Properties, a member of the exclusive Forbes Global Properties network, further emphasizing the villa’s high-profile status in the luxury real estate market.
As the Dubai skyline continues to evolve and attract global investors, Casa Maya stands as a testament to the city’s innovative spirit and luxurious lifestyle, waiting for its next chapter.
