Cupertino is set to honor exceptional members of its community through the 2025 CREST Awards, part of the city’s 70th anniversary celebrations. The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 29, at the Quinlan Community Center. These annual awards recognize individuals and organizations whose volunteer efforts have had a significant impact on the city.

The CREST Awards celebrate various achievements, with the following recipients announced for this year: Dennis Whittaker will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for his long-standing contributions; Raymond Lancon has been named Volunteer of the Year; the Cupertino Little League has earned the title of Organization of the Year; and Sarah Shelke and Reena Shah will be recognized as Rising Stars of the Year. Additionally, Aalok Patel, a Deputy with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, has been honored as a Hometown Hero.

Art Wall and Community Engagement

The city is also inviting residents to express their creativity through a “My Cupertino” Art Wall, which will be displayed during the ceremony. Participants are encouraged to submit artwork that represents what Cupertino means to them, whether it’s a cherished location, a community tradition, or the city’s spirit of innovation and diversity. Selected artworks may be featured on the City of Cupertino’s website and social media platforms. All contributors will receive a certificate of appreciation from the city.

Submissions for the art wall are due by October 10. For more details, community members can visit the official website at cupertino.gov/crest.

Cupertino Puzzle Hunt

In conjunction with the celebrations, the Cupertino Puzzle Hunt is ongoing until October 26. This free, family-friendly scavenger hunt encourages participants to explore the city while solving clues and puzzles related to Cupertino’s history and landmarks. Interested teams can get started at cupertino.gov/puzzlehunt.

These events not only highlight the contributions of community members but also foster engagement and creativity among residents. As Cupertino commemorates its 70th anniversary, the city continues to showcase the dedication and vibrant spirit of its inhabitants.
