Community Remembers Oliver F. Rhine, Beloved Educator and Veteran

Oliver F. “Ollie” Rhine, a respected veteran and educator, passed away on July 27, 2025, at the age of 92 in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania. His contributions to both the military and educational fields have left a lasting legacy in the community.

Born to the late James and Sarah Cooley Rhine, Ollie was a proud member of the US Army before dedicating his life to teaching. He served in the Marple Newtown School District until his retirement in 1994. Known for his commitment to education and mentorship, Rhine impacted countless students throughout his career.

Ollie is survived by his wife, Florence “Floss” Conner Rhine, and his son, Keith D. Rhine (affectionately known as Mickey). He is also remembered by his sister, Ellen Smith, as well as two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by six siblings, a testament to a large family deeply rooted in the community.

Funeral Arrangements and Community Tributes

A Funeral Rite and Eucharist will be held at 11 AM on August 1, 2025, at Christ Church Episcopal, located at 104 Nevin St., Ridley Park, PA 19078. Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects from 9:30 to 10:45 AM before the service. Following the ceremony, burial will take place in the church’s memorial garden.

Friends and community members are encouraged to honor Ollie’s memory through contributions to the church or Ascend Hospice, located at 1120 Welsh Rd., North Wales, PA 19454. These gestures reflect the community’s appreciation for a man who dedicated his life to teaching and serving others.
