British Mother Shares Struggles with Sex Drive Due to Health Issues
A 42-year-old woman from South Wales, Leanne Jones, has opened up about her sudden loss of sex drive, revealing it is linked to serious health conditions. Once described as “horny” and enthusiastic about her intimate life with her partner, Adam, 40, Jones experienced a dramatic shift that left her and her partner confused and concerned.
Leanne, a mother of two, reported that her interest in sex diminished significantly several years ago. Despite previously enjoying long hours in the bedroom, she found herself struggling with arousal and climax. “I went from being very highly sex driven to feeling like Grandpa Joe from ‘Willy Wonka,’” Jones stated in an interview with **Jam Press**. This unexpected change led her partner to initially take her lack of interest personally, fearing it indicated a loss of love.
In addition to the decline in her sex drive, Jones was also grappling with debilitating fatigue and partial hearing loss. Realizing that something was amiss, she consulted her doctor, who subsequently arranged for an MRI scan. The results were startling; she was diagnosed with two conditions: **Multiple Sclerosis (MS)** and **Functional Neurological Disorder**.
According to Jones, MS affects the brain and spinal cord, while Functional Neurological Disorder impacts how the brain processes and sends signals throughout the body. “Because of the nerve damage to the brain and spine, the signals needed for arousal, sensation, and orgasm are no longer there,” she explained. “It creates a disconnect. For us women, there are issues with low sex drive, lack of sensation and lubrication, and pain.”
As her partner faced the challenges of their altered intimacy, he remained supportive. “There have been many times my partner could’ve walked away, but he says we are a team,” Jones shared. In a conversation with a neurologist specializing in MS, her partner learned that the issues they faced in the bedroom were a result of Jones’ medical conditions, not a reflection of his worth.
Leanne has since become an advocate for others suffering from MS. Utilizing social media platform TikTok, she addresses the impact of the illness on sexual health and relationships. “I had a number of male sufferers message to thank me for discussing it, as a few of them had lost partners over it,” she noted. “This is why it’s so important to raise awareness. It’s such a debilitating and lonely life.”
Beyond the challenges to her sex drive, Jones also contends with difficulties related to her speech, mobility, and vision. Yet, she remains optimistic about her quality of life. “I want people to know that even though it feels like a prison sentence, it’s not,” she emphasized. “You’ve got to work with it, not against it, as there’s so much to live for.”
Leanne’s story highlights the need for greater awareness and understanding of how conditions like MS can affect not just physical health but also intimate relationships. Through her advocacy, she aims to foster a supportive community that encourages open conversations about the realities of living with such conditions.
