Alice Marie Zackery Jackson, a cherished matriarch, passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. She was welcomed into eternal peace, reuniting with her husband, Elvin R. “Leon” Jackson, Sr., and her faith in Jesus Christ. Her life, filled with warmth and compassion, will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Born on March 20, 1931, in Morgantown, Alice was the daughter of the late Allie and Creed Zackery. Throughout her life, she exemplified what it meant to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Alice’s modest nature meant that she never sought accolades for her kindness. Instead, she dedicated her life to her family, always placing their needs above her own.

Alice’s commitment to family was evident in her daily interactions. She made it a point to check in on each family member and friend, ensuring they were doing well. Her love for them was profound, and she often encouraged them to maintain their prayers, with the hope of one day reuniting in Heaven.

Her passing leaves a significant void. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allie and Creed Zackery, her husband, Elvin R. “Leon” Jackson, Sr., and several siblings, including her twin brother, Raymond Zackery. She also mourned the loss of her grandson, Humberto “Bert” Moya, and her beloved pets, Cocoa and Cindy Lou.

Alice is survived by her son, Elvin R. “Richard” Jackson, Jr., and his wife Sharon of Morgantown, as well as her daughter, Debbie Drake, of Pensacola, Florida, where she had made her home. Her family also includes granddaughters Krista Moya-Atkinson (married to Jimmie) from Ocala, Florida, and Shannon Dalton (married to Jason) from Vancouver, Canada. Her great-grandchildren, Zakary Moya and Taylor and Trent Dalton, carry on her legacy of love.

In addition to her immediate family, Alice is remembered fondly by her nephews, Gayle “Butch” Zackery (with Amber) of Morgantown and Tony Zackery (with Luz) of Ocala, along with many other relatives and friends who cherished her presence.

In accordance with her wishes, Faith Chapel Funeral Home in Pensacola will handle the cremation services. The family invites those who knew Alice to remember her spirit by celebrating the love she shared throughout her life. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
