Bay High School Celebrates Four Student-Athletes on Signing Day
On November 12, four standout student-athletes from Bay High School made their college commitments official during a spirited National Signing Day event. The occasion honored the dedication and hard work displayed by these individuals as they prepare to take their athletic talents to the next level.
Celebrating Achievements and Future Aspirations
The event brought together families, coaches, and classmates to celebrate the accomplishments of Anna Bennett, Gracie Fitchpatrick, Charlotte Fox, and Olivia Miller. Each athlete is set to compete in NCAA Division I or Division II programs, marking a significant milestone in their sports careers.
Olivia Miller, whose journey in volleyball began in second grade, expressed her excitement about joining the University of Findlay. After 19 seasons of playing, including recreational and club volleyball, she is eager to take the court at the collegiate level. “I’m so excited to just get out there and play. It’s a great feeling,” Olivia said during the signing ceremony.
Highlighting the familial support that guided her decision, Olivia’s mother, Sondra Miller, shared the philosophy they followed during the college search. She described what she termed the “broken leg test,” emphasizing the importance of finding a school where Olivia would feel content, even if unable to play due to injury. “You want to play somewhere where if you show up the first week with a broken leg and can’t play, you will still be happy, and this was it,” Sondra explained.
Unique Paths, Common Goals
While each athlete’s journey to this moment is distinct, they share a common goal of representing Bay High School on a larger stage. Anna Bennett will join the Ohio State University tennis program, while Gracie Fitchpatrick will compete in lacrosse at Slippery Rock University. Additionally, Charlotte Fox plans to play golf at Baldwin Wallace University.
National Signing Day serves as both a celebration of years of training and dedication, as well as the beginning of new chapters in their athletic careers. These student-athletes exemplify the determination and spirit of their school, making Bay High School proud as they embark on this exciting journey.
