Soyou Shares Secrets to Maintaining Weight After 10 kg Loss
Sistar member Soyou has candidly discussed her journey to maintain her weight following a significant loss of 10 kg (approximately 22 lbs). In a recent video on her YouTube channel, Soyougi, she revealed the changes to her body and lifestyle, emphasizing her commitment to being a self-proclaimed “maintenance dieter.”
During the video, Soyou expressed her surprise at her weight drop, noting that she had always aimed to remain above 50 kg. However, a recent check of her InBody analysis indicated she had fallen to 49 kg. “My InBody score used to be in the 80s, but it fell to the low 70s,” she explained. Soyou also shared that while her skeletal muscle mass usually remained around 22 kg, it dipped below that threshold, leading to alarming results such as labels of “weak” and “underweight.”
To regain her strength, Soyou has shifted her focus toward more intensive workouts targeting her lower body, abdomen, and back. She now engages in exercise sessions lasting approximately three hours, combining cardio with targeted strength training.
Diet and Lifestyle Changes
Soyou detailed her current eating habits, stating she typically consumes one to two meals daily, primarily in the morning or afternoon, while keeping dinner light. “I usually just have a taste,” she shared, noting that even foods she used to enjoy, such as ramen and rice, are now consumed in much smaller portions—often only 1/4 to 1/2 a bowl.
Interestingly, Soyou has eliminated designated cheat days from her routine. “If I have a cheat day, I completely let go,” she admitted. Instead, she opts to eat what she desires but stops as soon as she feels satisfied.
One of her top maintenance tips involves drinking plenty of water before meals. This strategy helps her feel full quickly, contributing to her successful weight management. She also maintains a habit of hydrating throughout the day.
Health Challenges and Goals
Soyou did not shy away from discussing the potential downsides of rapid weight loss. She mentioned experiencing dizziness and worsening symptoms of orthostatic hypotension, a condition that can cause faintness when standing up. “When you’re gaining weight, it comes on quickly — but when your weight is already very low and you try to lose more, it drops scarily fast,” she warned. She encourages anyone dieting to take necessary supplements and focus on healthy food choices.
In conclusion, Soyou shared her aspirations for a one-month lifestyle project aimed at enhancing her fitness and increasing muscle mass. Through her honest and engaging approach, she aims to inspire others on their health journeys while emphasizing the importance of safe and sustainable practices.
