Oura Ring’s Hidden Feature Saves User $500 by Tracking Lost Device
The innovative technology of the Oura Ring has proven its worth once again, as a user recently discovered a hidden feature that helped them recover a lost ring, saving approximately $500. After an outing with their toddler, the user noticed their Oura Ring missing from their finger, triggering a frantic search that ended successfully thanks to the ring’s Find My Ring feature.
Having worn the Oura Ring for years, the user relied on it for tracking sleep patterns and overall health. However, they faced a challenge after upgrading to the Oura Ring 4 from the previous generation shortly after giving birth, not realizing their fingers might still be swollen. This oversight likely contributed to the ring slipping off unnoticed during their shopping trip.
After searching under shelves in the grocery store for over 30 minutes, the user turned to the Oura app, only to find the hidden tracking feature that allowed them to pinpoint the ring’s last known location. Using this feature, they discovered the ring under their car, thus avoiding the cost of replacement and the stress that accompanied the loss.
How to Utilize the Oura Ring’s Find My Ring Feature
The Find My Ring feature is available for both the Oura Generation 3 and Oura Ring 4 models, but users must have an active membership to access it. Currently, the feature is exclusive to iOS users. Those on Android devices need to rely on third-party applications, such as Wunderfield, to achieve similar functionality.
For iOS users, the following steps outline how to locate a misplaced Oura Ring:
1. Ensure that Location Services are enabled for the Oura app on your device.
2. Open the Oura app and navigate to the Home tab.
3. Tap the battery icon located in the top right corner and select “Show latest location.”
4. This action will display a map with the ring’s last known location. Users can zoom in on the map for precise GPS coordinates.
If the location is not visible, check that the iPhone is not in low battery mode, as the tracking feature will not function under such conditions. Additionally, confirm that Location Services are enabled for the Oura app.
As technology continues to evolve, features like the Oura Ring’s tracking capability highlight the innovative ways devices can assist users in managing their health and belongings. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of utilizing available tools to mitigate potential losses in everyday life.
