Montgomery County Inspections Reveal Health Violations in Restaurants
Health inspections conducted in Montgomery County during the week of November 23-29, 2025, revealed multiple violations across various food establishments. The inspections, overseen by the Montgomery County Office of Public Health (MCOPH), highlighted issues such as rodent droppings, improper food storage, and inadequate sanitation practices.
The inspections are part of a routine process, where each establishment is evaluated annually. The findings serve as a snapshot of compliance, and often, violations are corrected immediately before inspectors leave. However, the reports indicate areas of concern that could impact public health.
Key Violations Across Multiple Establishments
Among the establishments inspected, Doc Watson’s Irish Pub on East Philadelphia Avenue in Gilbertsville faced significant challenges. The inspection revealed a lack of a Certified Food Sanitation Manager and multiple violations regarding food storage and cleanliness. Notably, the facility showed signs of insect and rodent presence, with an insect control device above the ware wash station being removed during the inspection.
Another establishment, Zoto’s Diner on Bethlehem Pike in Line Lexington, also reported critical violations. Inspectors found that food items were held above the acceptable temperature of 41 degrees Celsius, and the facility lacked proper handwashing signs. Additionally, a significant concern was raised regarding the absence of hot running water in the men’s restroom, requiring immediate repair.
Public Health Concerns Identified
The health inspections uncovered alarming conditions at Ralph’s Corner Diner in Lansdale, which faced violations for improper food handling practices. Employees were found handling ready-to-eat food with bare hands, and food items were stored at improper temperatures. The establishment also had issues with personal items being stored on food preparation surfaces, raising concerns about cross-contamination.
At Kumamon Ramen in King of Prussia, inspectors noted rodent droppings throughout the facility, mandating immediate cleaning and professional pest control services. The establishment was instructed to provide a pest control report to the MCOPH within ten business days.
Inspection reports also indicated that many establishments, including Taco Bell and Pho Ben City, struggled with proper food labeling and storage practices. For instance, multiple unlabeled squeeze bottles were observed at Taco Bell, while Pho Ben City struggled with cold holding temperatures, registering at an unacceptable 47 degrees Celsius.
Implications for Food Safety
As these inspections unfold, the MCOPH emphasizes the importance of compliance for the safety of the community. Establishments that fail to meet health standards could face legal actions or even closure. The reports serve as a reminder for both consumers and food service operators about the critical need for maintaining hygiene and safety standards in food preparation and service.
For more information on specific violations and the overall cleanliness of establishments, residents can access the county’s food safety inspection database. The public is also encouraged to report any illnesses related to food consumption through the MCOPH complaint form.
In summary, the recent food safety inspections in Montgomery County have raised significant public health concerns, highlighting the need for rigorous adherence to health standards across all food service establishments.
