The open enrollment period for the 2026 Medicare Part D drug plans will commence in Guam on October 16 and run until December 7, according to the Guam Department of Public Health and Social Services’ Division of Senior Citizens. The discrepancy in the start date compared to the U.S. mainland is attributed to Guam’s time zone.

During this enrollment window, Medicare beneficiaries have the opportunity to enroll in a new drug plan, switch from their current plan, or opt out of the voluntary prescription drug program altogether. It is crucial for those with Medicare to review their coverage options to ensure they select plans that align with their specific health needs.

Enrollment Appointments and Information Sessions

The Division of Senior Citizens will facilitate Medicare Part D enrollment appointments every Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. until December 3. These appointments will take place at the DSC office located at 130 University Drive Suite 8, Castle Mall building, Mangilao.

Additionally, informative presentations about Medicare Part D will be held every Thursday, starting on October 16 and concluding on December 4, at the DSC office at 2 p.m. Notably, there will be no counseling available on November 11 in observance of Veterans Day, and no presentations will occur on November 27 for Thanksgiving.

Resources for Beneficiaries

For more details about Medicare Part D and the 2026 prescription drug plan, beneficiaries can visit www.medicare.gov or contact the Medicare helpline at 1-800-MEDICARE or 1-800-633-4227. Additionally, the Guam Medicare Assistance Program (Guam MAP) is also available for assistance, reachable at (671) 735-7421 or (671) 735-7415, or via email at [email protected].

Beneficiaries who choose to maintain their current coverage are not required to re-enroll, as stated by the Department of Public Health. This enrollment period is essential for ensuring that Medicare beneficiaries have access to the necessary prescription medications and are informed about their healthcare options.
