Half Past 8 Launches Wellness Patches for Busy Lifestyles
A new brand, Half Past 8, has emerged in the wellness market, offering a range of wearable patches designed for consumers on the go. Launched directly to consumers and available at Printemps in New York City, the brand presents three patch options: Deep Sleep, Energy & Focus, and Stress & Mood, each priced at $52.
The patches utilize transdermal technology, allowing ingredients to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream over an eight-hour period. This approach highlights the brand’s aim to provide an effective alternative to traditional pills and powders, which may lose potency during digestion.
The founders, Meto, who also runs a private training gym in Los Angeles, and Kyle Pierce, the creator of health tech company Options MD, were inspired to develop these patches after experiencing lifestyle changes following the birth of their son. “Everything started when our son was born last year,” Meto explained. “Life all of a sudden changed: less sleep, low energy, a lot of stress.”
To address these common challenges, the patches are formulated with specific ingredients: the Deep Sleep patch includes 5 mg of melatonin, L-theanine, and other calming compounds; the Energy & Focus patch contains yerba mate and Panax ginseng for sustained energy; while the Stress & Mood patch features St. John’s wort and a B-vitamin complex to support cortisol levels.
Innovative Approach to Wellness
The brand’s focus on transdermal delivery sets it apart. “These patches use a set of ingredients that are specifically formulated to absorb through your skin,” Kyle noted. The formulation’s design aims to enhance absorption rates, allowing for effective delivery without the need for additives like sugars or gelatin capsules.
Kyle highlighted the significance of the Deep Sleep patch, particularly for consumers who often take excessive amounts of melatonin in pill form. “When you’re digesting a gummy or taking a pill, it has to go through your digestive tract, meaning you’re mostly absorbing nothing,” he said. “Everyone who’s tried the patch has reported statistically significant changes in their sleep quality.”
Testing has been crucial for the brand’s development. Meto engaged clients at his gym to trial the products, gathering feedback from individuals who frequently travel and maintain hectic schedules. “I have a network of top hair and makeup artists who are always on the go. They’re the ones asking for more sleeping and energy patches,” he shared.
The duo plans to enhance their outreach through digital channels, emphasizing educational content about the effectiveness of the patches. Kyle believes that the patch format will continue to gain traction, especially in the wellness sector. “Trend forecasting out of Korea indicates that patches will be the next significant development in beauty and wellness within the next five years,” he said.
Future Developments and Market Position
Looking ahead, Half Past 8 aims to distinguish itself through effective doses in its products. Many competing patch brands focus on aesthetics with smaller, less potent options. Kyle indicated that their approach prioritizes efficacy over appearance, ensuring that consumers receive the benefits they seek.
The founders are also exploring future product lines, including a weight management patch expected to launch in early 2026. “Our entire product development philosophy revolves around wellness that integrates seamlessly into your lifestyle,” Kyle remarked. They envision expanding beyond patches to potentially include other formats that provide immediate wellness benefits.
With a clear vision and innovative products, Half Past 8 is positioning itself to become a leader in the wellness patch market, catering to the needs of busy consumers seeking effective and convenient solutions to everyday health challenges.
