Community Mourns Loss of Robert “Bob” Briere at 67
Robert P. “Bob” Briere, aged 67, passed away on February 1, 2026, after a brave fight against cancer. He died peacefully in Lowell, surrounded by family. His loss is deeply felt in the community where he grew up and spent his life.
Born in Lowell on October 7, 1958, Bob was the youngest son of the late Henry and Lillian Briere. He was known for his passion for sports, particularly his unwavering support for the New England teams. Bob not only enjoyed watching games but also shared his extensive knowledge of sports with those around him. His cherished collection of baseball cards, which spanned several decades, reflected his lifelong enthusiasm for the sport.
Before his retirement, Bob worked as a machine operator for Sonoco Products. His dedication to his job was well regarded by colleagues and friends alike. He is survived by his sister, Pauline M. Briere; his sister-in-law, Karen Briere; and his niece and nephews, including Jen Briere and her spouse Doug Nolin, Jon Briere and his partner Kellie Roy, and James Briere and his spouse Jenn Burgess. Bob also had several great nephews and a great niece who held a special place in his heart.
Bob was predeceased by his brother, Henry R. Briere, whose memory remains cherished by his family. The Briere family invites relatives and friends to pay their respects at the Tyngsborough Funeral Home, located at 4 Cassaway Drive, Tyngsborough, on February 9, from 16:00 to 19:00. A Funeral Mass will take place on February 10 at 10:00 at St. Michael Parish, situated at 543 Bridge Street, Lowell. Following the mass, Bob will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford.
