American Legion Hosts Town Hall on VA Health Care in Connecticut

The American Legion, the largest veterans service organization in the United States, is organizing a town hall meeting in Orange, Connecticut, to address veterans’ concerns regarding VA health care. The event is part of the Legion’s System Worth Saving program, which facilitates direct engagement between veterans and VA medical staff across the country.

Scheduled for September 22, 2023, from 18:00 to 20:00, the town hall will take place at American Legion Post 127, located at 630 Grassy Hill Road. Local military veterans are encouraged to attend and share their experiences with the VA. The gathering aims to foster dialogue about the challenges and solutions related to health care services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

During the event, representatives from the American Legion and VA officials will be present to listen to veterans’ concerns and provide answers to questions raised. This initiative reflects the Legion’s commitment to improving the health care experiences of veterans.

The Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Commission of the American Legion conducts numerous site visits to VA medical facilities each year. These visits involve discussions with veterans, their families, and VA staff, focusing on identifying issues and exploring potential solutions. Findings from these visits are compiled into a System Worth Saving report, which is subsequently distributed to VA officials, members of Congress, and the public.

The town hall is free to attend, and no prior registration or RSVP is required. This open format aims to ensure that all veterans have an opportunity to voice their concerns directly.
