Wilkes University Celebrates Graduation of Over 400 Students

Wilkes University recently celebrated the graduation of more than 400 students during its summer commencement ceremony. The event took place on September 28, 2025, and marked a significant milestone for the graduates as they received their bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.

The program commenced with a welcoming address from David Ward, senior vice president and provost of Wilkes University. Following his remarks, Ben Toll, associate professor of political science and chair of the Faculty Affairs Council, along with Brian Bogert, a member of the graduating class, extended greetings to their peers. The commencement address was delivered by Megan Youmans, associate professor and co-chair of chemistry, who inspired the graduates with her insights and encouragement.

Degrees were conferred by Greg Cant, president of Wilkes University, who emphasized the achievements of the graduating class. Additionally, Neal McHugh, vice president of the alumni association, formally welcomed the new graduates into the university’s alumni network, which now includes over 50,000 members worldwide.

Savannah Reardon from Dupont, who earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing
Jason Reynoso from Wilkes-Barre, who received a bachelor’s degree in engineering management
Luke Spencer from Dallas, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration
Colby Butczynski from Nanticoke, who earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management
Blake Bynon from Wilkes-Barre, who received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
Jennifer McLaughlin from White Haven, who earned a doctorate in education

The achievements of these students reflect their hard work and dedication, making their graduation a momentous occasion for their families and the university community.

In other notable news, Nicolette Bagoly from Wilkes-Barre was awarded a Master of Science degree from the University of Alabama during its summer commencement ceremonies, highlighting the academic accomplishments of local students beyond Wilkes University.

Meanwhile, in the realm of sports, Rachel Galasso from Sweet Valley is representing Kutztown University as part of its field hockey team for the 2025 season. The team previously won the NCAA Division II championship in 2023 and narrowly lost in the final match last year to Saint Anselm College, showcasing their competitive spirit and commitment to excellence.
