Spring-Ford School Board Elects New Leadership for 2024

At its organizational meeting on December 1, 2023, the Spring-Ford Area School Board appointed Gabrielle “Abby” Deardorff as president and David Laky as vice president, marking a new era of leadership for the board. This meeting saw the induction of new member Rachael Yudt and the reelection of several returning members, including Deardorff, Erica Hermans, and Karen Weingarten.

New Roles and Continued Representation

The board approved the continuation of several key committee roles. Members Heidi Goldsmith, Hermans, and Weingarten will represent the Spring-Ford Board of School Directors on the Joint Operating Committee for the Western Montgomery Career and Technical Center. Goldsmith will also serve for a second year on the Montgomery County School Directors Legislative Committee, a vital role in local educational governance.

Laky will maintain his position as the board’s representative to the Spring City American Legion, ensuring ongoing community engagement. Additionally, Goldsmith has been reelected as a liaison for the Pennsylvania School Board Association, further enhancing Spring-Ford’s presence in statewide educational discussions.

Future Plans and Committee Assessments

During the meeting, the board approved the schedule of meeting dates for 2026. They also plan to evaluate current assignments for various board committees, which include Community Relations, Curriculum & Technology, Extra-Curricular, Finance, Personnel, Property, and Policy. The board is set to announce any adjustments to these committees in early 2026, indicating a proactive approach to governance and operational efficiency.
