Southeastern Community College Celebrates Nursing Graduates with Pinning Ceremonies
Southeastern Community College (SCC) recently celebrated the achievements of its nursing students with Pinning Ceremonies held at both the West Burlington and Keokuk campuses. These events marked a significant milestone for the fall 2025 graduating class, showcasing the hard work and dedication of the graduates and their families.
Ceremonies Mark Key Milestone for Nursing Graduates
The West Burlington ceremony took place on December 12, 2025, at Loren Walker Arena, where a total of 15 graduates received their Practical Nursing Diplomas, while 18 students were awarded Associate in Applied Science degrees. Just a few days later, on December 15, 2025, the Keokuk campus hosted its own ceremony at the New Testament Christian Church, celebrating eight Practical Nursing Diploma recipients and 11 graduates earning Associate in Applied Science degrees.
The atmosphere at both locations was filled with joy, as families and friends gathered to honor the accomplishments of their loved ones. There were numerous emotional moments, including hugs, smiles, flowers, cheers, and even a few tears as graduates reflected on their journey through nursing education.
Words of Encouragement from Leadership
At both ceremonies, SCC President Michael Ash addressed the graduates, offering congratulations and encouragement as they embark on their professional nursing careers. Alongside him, Maureen Ewinger, the Associate Dean of Nursing, also shared her insights and pride for the graduating class.
Students and instructors took turns speaking about their experiences over the past year, highlighting the challenges they faced and the knowledge they gained. Each graduate was then called to the stage to receive a pin symbolizing their achievement, a moment that underscored the commitment and perseverance required to complete the nursing program.
As the ceremonies concluded, graduates were able to celebrate their accomplishments with family and friends, marking the beginning of their new chapter in the healthcare profession. The Pinning Ceremonies at SCC not only recognized individual achievements but also reinforced the vital role that nursing plays in the community.
