Lyons Schools Launch 2025-26 Year with Vibrant Community Event

The Lyons Central School District celebrated the start of the 2025-26 academic year with its annual Back to School Bash on August 27, 2025. This festive event, held at both the elementary and middle/high schools, attracted hundreds of students, families, staff, and community members eager to mark the beginning of the school year.
Now a cherished tradition in Lyons, the bash occurs on the Wednesday before classes commence. This year’s gathering was filled with enthusiasm and opportunities for families to engage with each other and the broader community. Students participated in various activities designed not only to prepare them for the school year but also to create a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
Festive Activities and Community Connection
Attendees enjoyed a variety of engaging activities, including bounce houses and bubble play provided by Bunch of Bubbles. Children had the chance to meet their teachers, reconnect with classmates, and explore community resource tables. Meanwhile, middle and high school students collected their schedules, tested their lockers, and discovered numerous ways to get involved in school activities.
Families also had the opportunity to hear from New York Times best-selling author Alyssa Blask Campbell, who shared valuable insights on supporting students as they transition back to school. The presence of local food trucks, such as P.J.’s Pit Stop, The Lemon Drop, Rollin’ Stones Pizza, and Nani’s Treats, contributed to the lively community atmosphere, offering delicious meals and desserts for families to enjoy.
Emphasizing Community Spirit
According to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Matthew Barr, the event encapsulates the essence of what makes Lyons special. “This is what makes Lyons so great, bringing our schools, families, and community together,” he stated. “The Back to School Bash is a celebration of everything we value here: connection, support, and excitement for learning.”
As the evening unfolded, the energy remained high, showcasing not only the school district’s commitment to student readiness but also its dedication to fostering strong partnerships with families and the community. The Back to School Bash serves as a significant reminder of the importance of collaboration in supporting students as they embark on a new academic journey.
