Local Author Natalie Borer Releases Charming Bedtime Lullaby Book
Natalie Borer, an English teacher and mother of three, has released her debut book, “Dream Sweet: A Lyrical Bedtime Story.” This independently published work is now available for $11.99 in paperback and as an Amazon Kindle edition. Borer, who resides in Corning, California, drew on her experiences in early parenthood and her lifelong passion for storytelling to create this enchanting lullaby for babies and young children.
Borer’s journey began in Grass Valley, where she cultivated her love for literature. She attended Chico State University, after which she became a high school English teacher. Her career in education was complemented by her roles as a “Substacker” and a devoted Swiftie, reflecting her diverse interests. Borer recalls her early aspirations: “I have memories of elementary school projects where, as a class, we would write a book and each have a page to illustrate. I had always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up, and only one day did I waver from this when I said out loud, ‘Maybe I’ll be an author instead of a teacher,’ and my teacher responded with, ‘Why not be both?’”
Celebrating Childhood through Lyrical Poetry
“Dream Sweet” features charming full-page illustrations from QBN Studios and celebrates the beauty of childhood, seasons, and special occasions. Borer’s lullaby poem encapsulates her experiences as a parent while drawing inspiration from her own childhood memories. The opening lines set a soothing tone: “It’s time for bed now, little one. Settle in close, cozy, and snug.”
The lyrical narrative continues to evoke warmth and nostalgia, highlighting relatable childhood experiences. Borer writes, “Sweet as hot cocoa and Christmas tree hunting, Santa Claus, cookies, and present wrapping. Sweet as fireworks and ‘Happy New Year!’ Banging pots and pans, loudly we cheer.”
Through her writing, Borer aims to connect with both children and parents, creating a moment of shared wonder. “I am so fulfilled by this stage of early parenthood,” she expresses in the book, “seeing their faces bewildered and their starry eyes full of wonder over the simplest of things.”
Borer’s debut not only serves as a bedtime story but also as a reminder of the magic found in everyday experiences. With “Dream Sweet,” she hopes to inspire families to cherish their moments together and foster a love for storytelling in children.
As Borer embarks on this new chapter, she invites readers to join her in celebrating the sweetness of childhood and the comforting rituals of bedtime.
