Illinois State Faces Montana State for First FCS Title in Nashville

The Illinois State Redbirds are set to compete against the Montana State Bobcats for their first Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) title on March 15, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. This matchup marks a historic achievement for Illinois State, as they became the first team to win four consecutive playoff games on the road to reach the FCS championship game.

Illinois State linebacker Tye Niekamp expressed confidence in the team’s journey, stating, “As long as we get a bid in that playoff spot, we got a shot for everything.” The Redbirds, with a record of 12-4, have proven that they are focused on their own goals rather than outside expectations.
