Hutto and Coupland Schools Announce Information Sessions for 2026-27

Schools in Hutto and Coupland, Texas, are scheduling informational meetings for parents and students regarding upcoming educational opportunities for the 2026-27 academic year. The Hutto Independent School District (HISD) will host an **Advanced Academics Night** on **January 8, 2026**, at **6 p.m.** at Hutto High School, located at **101 FM 685**. This event is designed for middle school and high school students interested in advanced placement and dual-credit courses.

During the session, participants will hear from **Superintendent Earl Parcell** about the new programs being offered. The event aims to provide an overview of advanced academic options available throughout the district. Attendees will also learn about high school-based early college programs and the **Texas Bioscience Institute**, meet advanced placement teachers, and engage in discussions regarding educational expectations.

Coupland’s Transition to New Secondary School

In addition to the HISD event, the **Coupland Independent School District** (CISD) has set a meeting for **January 21, 2026**, at the Coupland School gym, located at **620 S. Commerce St.** This session will focus on the transition from elementary school to the new junior high and high school, which is set to open in **August 2026**. Coupland has not had a secondary school since the 1940s. Previously, students who completed eighth grade were transported to schools in nearby Taylor or other locations for their high school education. A **voter-approved bond in 2023** has allowed CISD to construct a combined junior high and high school to meet the educational needs of its growing student population.

During the January 21 meeting, parents and students will receive information about the academic and extracurricular programs that will be available at the new Coupland Junior High and High School. School officials have indicated that this will be an excellent opportunity for families to ask questions about the upcoming changes and the anticipated growth of Coupland ISD over the next few years.
