Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Superintendent Resigns to Join Education Service Center
The superintendent of Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District (ISD), Brad Schnautz, has announced his resignation effective January 2, 2026, as he transitions to a new role leading one of Texas’s Education Service Centers. This decision comes during a challenging period for the district, which is currently evaluating the potential closure of two elementary schools due to budget constraints.
In an email addressed to parents, Schnautz expressed his excitement about the new opportunity while acknowledging the difficulties of stepping down. He has been with Grapevine-Colleyville ISD since 2017 and took on the role of superintendent in 2023.
The district’s Board of Trustees will commence the search for Schnautz’s successor immediately. Schnautz emphasized his confidence in the team of trustees, educators, and administrators, stating that they are well-equipped to continue the mission of fostering student success.
New Role and Responsibilities
Schnautz will assume the position of executive director of the District 11 Education Service Center, an organization designed to provide support and resources to local schools. This service center covers the Fort Worth area and serves a diverse educational landscape, including 76 public school districts, 17 public charter schools, 115 charter campuses, and 202 private schools.
The decision to evaluate the closure of Dove and Bransford Elementary Schools has been a topic of discussion among district officials. The Board of Trustees is expected to vote on this matter next month, highlighting the financial challenges faced by the district.
Schnautz concluded his message by reaffirming his commitment to the community, stating, “I have full confidence in the outstanding team of trustees, educators, administrators, and leaders who will continue to fulfill our mission to prepare, motivate, and encourage each student to reach his or her full potential.”
His departure marks a significant transition for Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, as the community looks ahead to the search for new leadership amidst ongoing budgetary discussions.
