A range of community events is set to engage residents in Ulster County throughout February and March 2026. From art exhibitions to educational workshops, these opportunities aim to enhance cultural awareness and foster community connections.

Art and Educational Workshops for All Ages

Beginning on February 2, a weekly art and music workshop for teens aged 12 to 18 will occur every Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, located at 153 Main St., Port Ewen. All materials will be provided, and healthy snacks will be offered. For further details, individuals can contact the church at (845) 340-1293 or via email at [email protected].

In the realm of education, the Saugerties Adult Learning Community will host its final winter presentation on February 4 at 11:00 a.m. This free talk, titled “The Esopus People: Indigenous History in New Paltz,” will be delivered by Zachary Veith from Historic Huguenot Street. Participants must pre-register to attend the Zoom presentation, which will explore the history and culture of the Esopus people, including archaeological evidence and their encounters with European colonizers in the 17th century. Exciting Exhibitions and Cultural Activities

Several art exhibitions are also currently on display, providing community members with insights into local artists and their works. “Yura Adams: Marvel’s Cabinet” is on show at the Woodstock Artists Association & Museum through March 8. This exhibition showcases Adams’ observations of the natural world, and the gallery is open Thursday through Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m. For inquiries, call (845) 679-2940 or visit woodstockart.org.

Another notable exhibition is “Parts and Pieces: A Conversation in Collage, Pottery, and Memory,” located in the Apuzzo Hall Gallery at the Hudson Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center. This exhibition features works from local artists Robert Ohnigian, Pat Horner, and Nathan Gwirtz, and will be on display until March 14. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information, visit lgbtqcenter.org.

Community members are also invited to participate in family-friendly activities. The Hudson River Maritime Museum will offer its “Museum Mates” children’s activity series on the first Saturday and third Thursday of each month at 11:00 a.m. This program includes crafts, storytelling, and Lego activities, with tickets priced at $10 for Lego and storytelling days, and $15 for craft days.

Culinary events are also on the agenda, with the Kerhonkson Firehouse hosting a monthly breakfast on the second Sunday of each month. Take-out orders are available, and more information can be obtained by calling (845) 626-7455.

Community Engagement Through Workshops and Lectures

For those seeking to enhance their civic engagement, the Unitarian Universalist Church will hold a workshop titled “How to Deepen Your Commitment to Civic Engagement” on February 7 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This event will focus on voter outreach programs and other civic activities. Registration is encouraged, and further details can be found at https://mobilize.us/s/ii09fV.

Additionally, Bard College will present a lecture titled “Taking the Air: Vacationing to the Catskills in the 19th Century” on February 4 at 7:00 p.m. This discussion will explore historical vacation practices in the Catskill Mountains, led by educator Emma Foster. Admission is priced at $10, or $5 for museum members.

Residents are also encouraged to take part in various free workshops at the People’s Place Wellness Empowerment Center, which offers health classes, screenings, and nutritional guidance. These workshops run monthly, providing valuable resources to the community.

As February unfolds, Ulster County residents can look forward to a vibrant mix of cultural, educational, and community-building events. These opportunities not only celebrate local talent and history but also foster connections among residents, enriching the community fabric of the region.
