Casa Grande Public Library Launches Exciting Fall Programs for All Ages
The Casa Grande Public Library is set to engage the community with a variety of activities this fall, inviting residents of all ages to participate. The library’s new initiatives include reading challenges, workshops, and cultural events, designed to enhance literacy, learning, and social interaction.
One of the standout offerings is the **Fall Reading Challenge**, which encourages children to complete tasks on an activity sheet for a chance to win a prize. Teens and adults can also participate by logging five books on the Beanstack App, earning a “reading-themed pin” as a reward for their efforts. This initiative emphasizes the importance of reading and aims to foster a lifelong love of literature among participants.
In response to the growing integration of technology, the library is hosting an **Android Basics Workshop** on October 16 at the Main Library. This session, which requires no prior registration, will help attendees learn to navigate their Android devices effectively. Additionally, the Teen Board Game Club meets every Thursday, providing a platform for strategic play and socializing. For those interested in crafts, the Crochet & Knitting Club gathers on Fridays at the Vista Grande Library, fostering creativity and connection among participants.
The library also offers opportunities for residents to enhance their culinary and financial knowledge through the **Cook, Save, Enjoy** series, commencing on October 17. This program aims to teach participants how to enjoy nutritious meals while being mindful of their budgets. Families can enjoy a special **Cars movie marathon** scheduled for October 18, with the stipulation that children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Language learning is another focal point this fall. The library hosts the **Spanish Conversation Gathering** every Thursday and offers English as a Second Language classes twice a week, catering to diverse community needs.
On October 24, the Casa Grande Public Library will celebrate **Día de los Muertos**, featuring performances by Folklorico dancers, Mariachi music, crafts, storytelling, and traditional pan dulce. This event highlights the cultural richness of the community and promotes appreciation for diverse traditions.
For those interested in gardening, the library has introduced a **Garden Series**, while digital literacy is supported through **Tech Help & Learning** opportunities, including Tutor Tech Time and access to free online courses for library cardholders. Adults seeking to earn their diploma can take advantage of the free GED Program offered by the library.
The library is also keen on fostering community involvement through the **Mayor’s Reading Club**, which allows volunteers to read to K–3 students monthly. Additionally, the library is inviting volunteers to join the ACE Team, aimed at tutoring adult learners, thus promoting a spirit of communal uplift.
Patrons can support the Casa Grande Public Library by donating books or borrowing a **Culture Pass**, which allows free visits to select cultural institutions. The Main Library, located at 449 N. Drylake St., and the Vista Grande Library at 1556 N. Arizola Rd. welcome visitors from Monday to Saturday, with varied operating hours to accommodate all community members.
The library’s extensive programming reflects its commitment to enhancing literacy, cultural awareness, and community engagement, ensuring there is something for everyone this fall.
