Bethlehem Area School District Appoints New Principal for Hanover Elementary

The Bethlehem Area School District has announced the appointment of Ralph Andrews as the new principal of Hanover Elementary School, pending approval from the school board. Andrews, who is currently the principal at Parkside Education Center and S.S. Palmer Elementary in the Palmerton Area School District, will step into the role later this fall if approved.

Andrews brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He has served as principal since 2021 and previously held the role of assistant principal at Robert Clemente Charter School in Allentown. His educational career began in the Palmerton Area School District, where he taught both sixth-grade and eighth-grade mathematics.

Educational Background and Support from Leadership

Andrews holds a Master’s degree in educational leadership from Cabrini University and a Master of Science in classroom technology from Wilkes University. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University. His diverse educational background equips him with the skills necessary to foster a productive learning environment at Hanover Elementary.

Superintendent Jack Silva expressed enthusiasm about Andrews’ appointment, stating, “We are excited to welcome Mr. Andrews to Hanover Elementary. His leadership experience, instructional expertise, and dedication to positive school culture make him an excellent fit for our BASD school community.”

Transition Following Previous Principal’s Departure

The appointment of Andrews comes after the previous principal, Erin Hines, was placed on leave in April 2023 following a DUI charge related to an incident where she allegedly crashed into several vehicles at a shopping center in Bethlehem. Hines’ preliminary hearing is scheduled for next week, marking a significant transition for the school community.

The Bethlehem Area School District is poised to welcome Andrews, who is expected to bring his leadership skills and vision to enhance the educational experience for students at Hanover Elementary School. The school district will formally finalize his appointment pending the outcome of the board’s approval process.
