Barton Community College Launches First Federal HR Degree Program
Barton Community College has announced the launch of the nation’s first Associate of Arts degree with a focus on Federal Human Resources. The program will be formally introduced at an event scheduled for November 4, 2023, from 14:00 to 16:00 at the Riley Community Center located at 446 Seitz Drive, Fort Riley, Kansas. The event aims to engage community leaders and military families, providing insights into the program’s goals, curriculum, and its anticipated impact on the development of the federal workforce.
This innovative degree program is designed specifically for service members, veterans, and military spouses, offering a structured pathway to rewarding civilian careers within federal service. Graduates will be well-prepared to secure high-paying positions with competitive benefits, including healthcare and retirement plans, ultimately benefiting their fellow citizens.
Barton’s Vice President of Instruction, Elaine Simmons, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Golden Key Group (GKG), stating that both organizations share a deep commitment to supporting military students and their families. “We’re thrilled to be part of this groundbreaking initiative,” Simmons noted. “Supporting our military students is part of Barton’s DNA, and this program is another way we’re ensuring their continued success as they transition to civilian life.”
The partnership with GKG marks a significant enhancement of their longstanding commitment to workforce development for federal employees. Donnielle DeMesme, Vice President of Leadership and Development for GKG, highlighted the importance of this academic program in formalizing a degree-granting pathway. “This program is about opportunity,” she said. “It’s about helping service members and their families transition successfully while strengthening our federal workforce.”
To attend the launch event, participants must RSVP by October 21, 2023.
