Researchers Develop Intelligent Framework for Supply Chain Traceability
The complexities of global supply chains are prompting a need for advanced solutions to enhance traceability, security, and efficiency. In response, researchers from the Department of Computer Science at Berhampur University in India have proposed a novel framework that integrates blockchain technology with intelligent agent systems. Their study, titled “Constructing an Intelligent Agent-Centric Framework for Supply Chain Traceability with Blockchain Integration,” addresses the significant challenges faced by traditional supply chain management, particularly those related to data security and operational inefficiencies.
This research outlines a comprehensive supply chain traceability framework that incorporates both internal and external perspectives. The authors, Satyananda SWAIN and Manas Ranjan PATRA, emphasize that current research lacks practical implementations that effectively combine blockchain with intelligent systems. Their framework employs a multi-agent system (MAS) as its core component, designed to oversee and monitor supply chain operations powered by blockchain.
The study focuses on a case analysis of the gasoline manufacturing and distribution supply chain (GMDSC). The findings demonstrate that the proposed framework can significantly improve resilience within supply chains. It enhances real-time monitoring and enables dynamic adjustments, addressing critical issues such as data inaccuracies and the complexities of integrating multiple systems.
The research presents a compelling case for the adoption of intelligent systems in supply chains. By providing a structured approach to workflow tracking and control, the framework facilitates accurate execution of activities throughout the entire supply chain lifecycle. This is particularly important as supply chains continue to grow in complexity and scale.
