The St. John the Baptist Parish Council is set to hold a two-day retreat on October 2 and 3, 2025, at the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel. The event will commence at 8:30 AM each day in the Des Glaises Room, located on the first floor of the hotel at 7000 Bluebonnet Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

This retreat will feature a detailed agenda aimed at reviewing and discussing key operational matters for the council. On the first day, the council will engage in several activities, including a presentation by Eric Jones, the Regional Director of External Affairs for AT&T, who will discuss the company’s plans for fiber broadband in the area.

Following this, Chairwoman Tammy Houston and Councilman-at-Large Michael Wright will present a draft of proposed rules governing council proceedings for review and potential revision. A lunch break will occur before moving on to proposed guidelines intended to standardize public conduct and participation during council meetings, presented by Councilman Robert Arcuri.

The second day will reconvene at 8:30 AM, continuing with a call to order and a review of the drafts discussed previously. Council members will have the opportunity to offer additional revisions to the proposed rules, guidelines, and policies regarding the employment of a secretary for the council.

The council has stated that it will provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities who wish to attend the retreat. Requests for accommodations must be made at least three days in advance. Interested parties can contact Mrs. Stacey Cador at (985) 652-9569 or utilize the Louisiana Relay Service at 1-800-846-5277 to request assistance.

This retreat marks a significant effort by the St. John the Baptist Parish Council to enhance its operational effectiveness and ensure inclusive governance for the community.
