Mom’s Unconventional Nighttime Routine Sparks Debate Online
A mother’s nighttime routine has ignited a lively debate among parents online, with many expressing their astonishment and others voicing their agreement. Emily Boazman, a stay-at-home mom, has adopted a unique schedule for her three homeschooled children, aged 9, 7, and 3, that defies conventional parenting norms.
Dinner in the Boazman household is served as late as 9:30 p.m., followed by bedtime stories that often do not conclude until after midnight. This approach is particularly notable in contrast to the typical early bedtime routines many families adhere to. Boazman’s husband, a district attorney, typically arrives home after 8 p.m., prompting the family to begin their evening wind-down activities only after his return.
Boazman shared her family’s routine through a viral video that included time stamps, illustrating their unconventional lifestyle. “They wake up just fine—usually around 10:30 a.m.,” Boazman told Newsweek. “I have to tell them to get up a few times, but once they’re out of bed, they’re perfect for the rest of the day.”
The video prompted a flood of reactions, with some viewers expressing disbelief. Comments varied widely, with one user stating, “Omg, I would die if we were making food at 9 p.m.. I’m thinking about bed at that time.” Another remarked, “This is chaotic. I can’t imagine growing up in this chaos.”
Yet, not all responses were negative. Many parents resonated with Boazman’s perspective. “Thank God there are other families that don’t make their kids go to bed at 7 and have a day routine,” one commenter noted. Another echoed similar sentiments: “We do something similar! In bed by midnight. It’s amazing because early mornings are the worst.”
Boazman’s approach is not isolated. Another mother, Jeri-Leah, has also gained attention for her unorthodox parenting style. She shared a video explaining her philosophy of parenting without rules, stating that she does not expect her children to take on chores or responsibilities. “You don’t have to tidy; I will do that. I don’t mind. I’ll put your clothes away; I’ll wash your clothes. That’s my job,” she explained.
The differing parenting styles showcased by Boazman and Jeri-Leah have sparked discussions on social media about the diverse ways families can structure their lives. As these conversations continue, many parents find themselves reflecting on their own routines and the values they wish to instill in their children.
While some embrace the flexibility of late-night schedules, others remain steadfast in traditional routines. The dialogue surrounding these various parenting philosophies illustrates the rich tapestry of modern family life, offering insight into how different approaches can shape children’s experiences and development.
