Community Mourns the Loss of Dean Michael Balster, 59, of Brainerd

Dean Michael Balster, aged 59, from Brainerd, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2025. His untimely death has left a profound impact on his family and the community he served.

Born on July 23, 1966, in Slayton, Minnesota, Dean was the son of Harold and Colleen Balster. He cherished his family and was devoted to his work as a carpenter with Hy-Tec Construction in Brainerd. Dean married Barbara Sunde on June 11, 1994, in Nisswa, and together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories.

Dean is survived by his wife, Barbara; their son, Alex Balster (Adam) of Brainerd; and his daughters, Nicole Goehring (Ryan) of Herreid, South Dakota, and Sophie Tucker (Nicole) of Pequot Lakes. His legacy also includes his parents, Harold and Colleen Balster, three sisters—Debby Keefer, Dawn Heide (Scott), and DeAnne Pierzinski (Rodney)—and three beloved grandchildren: Molly, Madison, and Chase Goehring.

Celebration of Life to Honor Dean Balster

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life Open House starting at 1:00 p.m. on October 4, 2025, at Dean’s home, located at 18938 Maryville Road in Brainerd. This gathering will provide an opportunity for loved ones to share memories, laughter, and honor Dean’s life in a setting he cherished. Snacks and refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon.

Arrangements for the service have been entrusted to the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby. Dean’s passing has left a void in the lives of many, and his family encourages everyone to join in celebrating his remarkable life and the joy he brought to those around him.
