University of Wisconsin–Madison Achieves Top 40 Ranking in U.S.

The University of Wisconsin–Madison has secured a notable position in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings, claiming the 36th spot overall among 438 doctoral institutions in the United States. This marks the fourth consecutive year the university has been featured in the top 40, reflecting its commitment to excellence in undergraduate education.

In the 2026 edition of the rankings, released on September 23, 2025, UW–Madison moved up from 39th to 36th overall and from 13th to 12th among public universities.
