Boox Launches New Pocket-Sized E-Readers at Higher Prices

Boox has unveiled its latest pocket-sized e-readers, the P6 Pro and P6 Pro Color, now available in China. As the company prepares for a potential global release, initial pricing indicates a significant increase compared to previous models, aligning with broader trends in 2025.
The Boox P6 Pro, featuring a 6.13-inch black-and-white Carta 1300 E Ink display, is priced at approximately 2,799 Chinese yuan (around $393). For those seeking color options, the P6 Pro Color utilizes a 6.13-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 screen, with a higher price tag of 3,299 CNY (roughly $463). Launch discounts are currently available, reducing the prices to 2,516 CNY ($353) for the P6 Pro and 2,991 CNY ($420) for the Color variant. However, potential U.S. tariffs could further inflate these costs when the models are introduced in international markets.
Both devices come equipped with 128GB of internal storage, expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. They also feature a 16MP camera, 3,950mAh battery, and run a customized version of Android 13. Notably, the P6 Pro Color offers an upgrade in RAM from 6GB to 8GB and supports stylus input for note-taking, enhancing its functionality for users.
A key advancement in these models is the inclusion of a SIM card slot, allowing access to 5G mobile data. This feature distinguishes the P6 Pro series as the first compact e-readers from Boox to support mobile connectivity. However, unlike the recently launched Bigme Hibreak Pro, these devices do not serve as smartphone replacements, which may make their higher price point a more difficult proposition for consumers.
As Boox looks to establish its presence in the competitive e-reader market, the pricing strategy and feature set of the P6 Pro and P6 Pro Color will be closely monitored by tech enthusiasts and potential buyers alike.
