Solar Lanterns Illuminate Healing Paths for Ukrainian Children

In a profound effort to support children affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine, the nonprofit organization Common Man for Ukraine is delivering solar-powered lanterns to aid in trauma therapy. This initiative, led by dedicated volunteers from New York and New England, aims to provide both physical and emotional support to young victims grappling with the impacts of conflict.

For three years, Common Man for Ukraine has focused on delivering critical aid to the war’s most vulnerable victims—children. The organization has successfully transported over 4 million pounds of food to frontline villages and child safe houses. Additionally, it has facilitated mental healthcare retreats for more than 1,400 children of fallen soldiers, offering them a safe space to heal.

Empowering Change Through Solar Technology

Among those rallying to support this cause is Alice Min Soo Chun, the CEO of Solight Design and inventor of the SolarPuff lantern. Chun has devoted her efforts to reducing air pollution through solar technology. Recently, she recognized the potential of her lanterns in aiding Ukrainian children suffering from PTSD. After discovering that healthcare workers had been using the lanterns as therapeutic tools, Chun donated thousands of these solar-powered devices to those in need.

Chun’s partnership with Common Man for Ukraine led her to travel to Ukraine, where she personally delivered aid along with the lanterns. Her initiative not only brings physical light to dark situations but also symbolizes hope and resilience for children living in an electricity-deprived, war-torn environment.

A Call to Action for Supporting Humanitarian Efforts

The upcoming humanitarian convoy, set for next month, marks the 14th mission for Common Man for Ukraine. As the organization continues its critical work, it emphasizes the empowerment of everyday Americans who are taking action to make a difference. This collaboration highlights how individuals can come together to provide support during challenging times.

For those wishing to contribute to the humanitarian efforts of Common Man for Ukraine, further information is available at www.commonmanforukraine.org. The ongoing commitment of volunteers and supporters underscores the resilience of communities, both in the United States and Ukraine, in the face of adversity.

Through the collective efforts of organizations and individuals like Chun, there remains a beacon of hope for the children navigating their healing journeys in Ukraine.
