Piglet in Bed Revives Morris & Co. Designs for Modern Bedrooms
A new collaboration between bedding brand Piglet in Bed and the historic British design house Morris & Co. has breathed fresh life into classic prints dating back to 1861. This partnership introduces a collection of botanically inspired bedding that merges heritage charm with contemporary aesthetics, making it ideal for modern interiors.
The collection features reimagined patterns, including the well-known Oak design, which showcases delicate climbing branches and acorns now presented in a soothing shade known as Leafy Green. Another standout is the Double Bough print, originally crafted by designer John Henry Dearle in 1892. This design has been revitalized for 2025, boasting a vibrant hue against Webbs Blue, a color inspired by architect Philip Webb, a close associate of William Morris.
Design Manager Adam Crick noted that the inspiration for this collection arose during a period of rediscovery in home interiors. He explained, “We saw a growing desire for authenticity, storytelling, and craft in interiors. Morris & Co.’s legacy of intricate, nature-based patterns felt like the perfect answer to this moment.”
This collaboration offers a unique opportunity to incorporate historical designs into contemporary settings. The collection embraces the concept of maximalism, allowing for layered patterns that evoke nostalgia while remaining versatile enough for everyday use. The ‘surprise’ fitted sheet, a trend gaining traction, allows minimalists to enjoy a touch of maximalist style.
Consumers can choose from various products, including the Leafy Arbour Oak Washed Cotton Percale Pillowcases, which blend seamlessly with both muted tones and richer colors like rust or oxblood. Another popular option is the Webbs Blue Double Bough Linen Blend Pillowcases, crafted from a mix of 55% European linen and 45% long-staple cotton, ensuring both comfort and style.
The range extends to duvet covers, featuring the organic Oak print, which pairs beautifully with Piglet’s gingham sheet sets. Each duvet cover is designed with attention to detail, including coconut-shell buttons and discreet corner ties, enhancing both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Among the standout pieces is the Soft Sage Honeysuckle Linen Blend Duvet Cover, which showcases a print originally created in 1883 by William Morris’s daughter. This design features vibrant greens and blues accented by delicate pink-purple florals, inviting playful combinations with other bedding accessories.
As Piglet in Bed continues to explore the intersection of historical design and modern living, this collection not only honors the legacy of Morris & Co. but also celebrates the personal nature of bedroom decor. The collaboration represents a fusion of artistry and comfort, appealing to those who seek to create a unique and characterful space at home.
With this launch, Piglet in Bed invites customers to experience the charm of centuries-old designs reinterpreted for today’s lifestyle, promising a blend of nostalgia and modern comfort in every thread.
