Nicole Kidman Reveals Hot Yoga Ritual With Daughters for Wellness

In a recent interview, Nicole Kidman shared her enthusiasm for practicing hot yoga with her teenage daughters. The acclaimed actress described this shared activity as a transformative experience, dubbing it a “glow up.” Kidman revealed that while they emerge from classes looking “red-faced and ragged,” the benefits become apparent shortly after. “About an hour later, wow,” she stated in her conversation with People magazine, published on March 15, 2024.
At 58 years old, Kidman emphasizes the importance of self-care, particularly through physical activities that promote wellness. “I love doing hot yoga right now, so I feel really good about an hour after that,” she said. The practice is not only a bonding moment with her daughters but also a significant part of her overall health routine.
Self-Care Beyond Yoga
In addition to yoga, Kidman outlined various self-care practices that contribute to her mental and emotional well-being. “I’ll ask for a hug. I meditate, I pray,” she noted, highlighting her strong support system and the influence of her father, a psychologist. “I’ve done so much research on the human mind…so I’m a big believer in breath work,” she added.
Kidman referred to these practices as “tiny tools” that enhance her daily life. She believes that something as simple as smiling can uplift her mood, stating, “it’s almost like you trick yourself into a state of being.” This approach reflects her understanding of the psychological aspects of well-being, a topic she has explored extensively.
The Appeal of Hot Yoga
Hot yoga, which occurs in heated and humid environments, is known for its ability to improve flexibility, strength, and stress reduction. According to John Porcari, a professor of exercise and sport science at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, the appeal of hot yoga is akin to that of saunas and hot tubs. “It helps people feel good physically and mentally,” he explained in a 2021 article.
Kidman joins a growing list of celebrities who openly discuss their wellness routines. For instance, actress Keke Palmer shared her commitment to Pilates, describing it as a vital personal moment in her day. “It’s really meditative,” she noted in a previous interview.
Similarly, Caitlin Clark, a WNBA star, mentioned her penchant for unwinding by rewatching classic Disney films, underscoring the diverse ways individuals find relaxation and joy. “The other day I watched ‘The Parent Trap,'” she remarked, reflecting on the comfort of familiar entertainment.
As public figures like Kidman continue to share their wellness journeys, they encourage a broader conversation about mental and physical health. Kidman’s focus on yoga and self-care serves as a reminder of the importance of nurturing both body and mind.
