Kelsea Ballerini Unveils ‘Burn the Baggage’ Candle with Ranger Station

Kelsea Ballerini has announced an exciting collaboration with Nashville-based perfumer Ranger Station to launch her new candle, titled **‘Burn the Baggage.’** This product draws inspiration from her recent hit song, “Baggage,” featured on her fifth studio album. Ballerini describes the fragrance as a complex blend that symbolizes the healing journey following heartbreak.
In a conversation with *WWD*, Ballerini reflected on her childhood fondness for the scent of “warm vanilla sugar.” She explained, “There’s something about the smell that makes you feel like you have fuzzy socks and a big oversized sweater on; it feels relaxed and calm.” This nostalgic aroma sets the tone for the new candle, which she hopes will resonate with her fans and others alike.
The **‘Burn the Baggage’** candle is designed to represent the emotional stages that accompany heartache. Once lit, the melting wax serves as a metaphor for the pain that lingers after a breakup. Ballerini noted, “It just felt like the perfect kind of metaphor for a candle.” Since its release in **October 2024**, the song “Baggage” has accumulated over **48 million streams on Spotify**, highlighting its popularity among listeners.
Beyond the candle itself, Ballerini has included a unique element to enhance the experience: a complimentary cocktail recipe. Named “I Rode Off Into the Tequila Sunset,” this drink features tequila and is a playful nod to another of her songs, “First Rodeo.” Ballerini shared that she enjoys incorporating candles into her daily routine, stating, “If I’m on my tour bus or in a hotel room, it’s a fire hazard. I just always have candles going.”
Ballerini’s introduction to Ranger Station’s products predates her collaboration with co-founders Steve and Jordan Soderholm. She expressed her admiration for their locally made candles and the sweet nature of the husband-and-wife team. The Soderholms were equally enthusiastic about partnering with Ballerini, marking her as their first female collaborator after working with country stars Dan and Shay and Noah Kahan.
The creative process behind the candle allowed Steve Soderholm to explore an aroma he had seldom used. He explained, “Every perfume has a style, and florals usually aren’t mine. Part of the reason I started Ranger Station was because there were so many overly floral scents, and I wanted something different.” He found inspiration in Ballerini’s vision of blending a floral scent with earthy, woodsy amber notes, capturing the dual themes of heartbreak and personal growth.
The launch of **‘Burn the Baggage’** coincides with the expanded release of Ballerini’s album, including two limited deluxe editions. She expressed her hope that the candle will attract not only her fans but also those unfamiliar with her music. “I hope that people find it just either in Nashville stopping by the Ranger Station store or through Revolve,” she commented. “I think it’s a candle that should be on everyone’s bedside table this November.”
In a charitable aspect, **10% of all proceeds** from the candle sales will be donated to **Porter’s Call**, a nonprofit organization that serves as a mental health hotline for recording artists and their loved ones. Ballerini’s commitment to supporting mental health through her work adds another layer of significance to this new product.
With the launch of **‘Burn the Baggage,’** Kelsea Ballerini not only offers a sensory experience but also invites her audience to engage with her music and message on a deeper level. The combination of fragrance, storytelling, and philanthropy positions this candle as a poignant reminder of resilience in the face of heartache.
