As the festive season approaches, residents of Hillsborough County will receive crucial support amid ongoing food insecurity. The county’s Healthy Living Program has partnered with Feeding Tampa Bay to host a series of food pantry events aimed at ensuring that local families can celebrate the holidays without the burden of hunger. These initiatives are not only focused on immediate relief but also on promoting long-term health and wellness among community members.

The food distribution events will provide residents with packages filled with fresh produce, meats, and essential pantry items. While regular distributions occur monthly, the program will offer additional support during the festive months of November and December 2023. These events are open to anyone aged 18 and over, regardless of income level, reflecting the program’s commitment to making nutritious food accessible to all.

Upcoming Events and Services

The first of these food pantry events is scheduled for next Thursday at the Lee Davis Healthy Living Center, followed by additional distributions on Friday at both the Plant City Healthy Living Center and the SouthShore Healthy Living Center. Detailed information regarding these events can be found on the Healthy Living Program’s official website.

In addition to food assistance, the program is expanding its offerings this holiday season. Residents will have free access to exercise rooms and group fitness classes. Monthly nutrition consultations and classes will also be available at four Healthy Living Centers throughout the county. Community members in need of these services can easily drop by or contact the Healthy Living Program for further details.

Collaborative Support Network

The Healthy Living Program’s efforts are part of a broader network of support available in Hillsborough County. Organizations such as ECHO, the United Food Bank of Plant City, and the St. Anne Catholic Church Food Pantry are also contributing essential food and clothing assistance. Together, these resources aim to alleviate the pressures faced by families during this festive period.

As Hillsborough County continues to grapple with food insecurity challenges, the Healthy Living Program stands out as a beacon of hope, ensuring that all community members can enjoy the holiday season with dignity and access to nutritious food.
