Baltimore’s 8th Annual Black Girls Vote Ball Celebrates Empowerment
The 8th Annual Black Girls Vote Ball took place on November 21, 2025, at Martin’s West in Baltimore, celebrating a decade of advocacy for political engagement among women of color. The evening’s theme, “Every Black Girl Has A Story,” resonated throughout the event, which was attended by a sold-out crowd of 900 guests.
The festivities commenced with a VIP reception where attendees connected and shared their narratives before moving into the elegantly decorated ballroom for dinner and dancing. This year’s event maintained its reputation as one of Baltimore’s most glamorous gatherings, underscored by the attendance of influential figures and community leaders.
Organizers reported that the ball successfully raised approximately $31,000 to support Black Girls Vote (BGV) initiatives aimed at encouraging political participation among women of color. This financial contribution will aid the organization in its mission to empower and mobilize voters from underrepresented communities.
Among the attendees was Nykidra “Nyki” Robinson, the founder of Black Girls Vote, who attended with her young son, Nyle Mensah. The event also honored various community leaders, including Dr. Johnnetto Betsch Cole, president emeritus of Spelman College and Bennett College, and James D. Staton, president of Staton Associates LLC.
The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as guests were treated to an elegant dinner, followed by lively music that kept the dance floor vibrant. Notably, electric cellist Chanel Kelly provided a captivating performance during the VIP reception, setting a celebratory tone for the evening.
The Black Girls Vote Ball not only serves as a fundraising event but also as a platform for storytelling and community connection. The emphasis on personal narratives aligns with the organization’s goal of highlighting the unique experiences of Black women and girls.
As the evening concluded, attendees left with a sense of empowerment and a commitment to fostering political engagement within their communities. The energy and enthusiasm at the ball demonstrated the collective determination to amplify the voices of Black women in the political sphere.
Looking ahead, Baltimore’s event scene continues to thrive with upcoming gatherings, including the Legacy Awards Gala on December 4, hosted by the Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce, and Art After Hours on December 5 at the Baltimore Museum of Art. These events reflect the city’s vibrant community spirit and commitment to cultural enrichment.
