New Rehabilitation Clinic for First Responders Opens in West Chester

A new rehabilitation clinic dedicated to first responders officially opened on October 12, 2023, at the Fame Fire Company in West Chester, Pennsylvania. This state-of-the-art facility, operated by ProTeam Tactical Performance (PTP), aims to provide specialized care to firefighters, police officers, and emergency medical service personnel recovering from job-related injuries.

At the grand opening event, approximately 50 first responders gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate this partnership between PTP and the local first responder community. The clinic, located on the second floor of the firehouse, seeks to address the unique physical demands faced by these professionals and enable quicker recoveries.

Specialized Care for First Responders

The West Chester clinic focuses on treating muscular and skeletal injuries, including strains, sprains, and other conditions affecting the ankles, knees, and backs. The facility is equipped with advanced rehabilitation technology and offers personalized treatment programs tailored to the specific needs of first responders.

Jim Sorgi, co-founder and co-CEO of ProTeam Tactical Performance, emphasized the importance of providing elite care for those who risk their lives for public safety. “First responders put their lives on the line every day for the safety of their communities. West Goshen Police Department Chief Michael Carroll highlighted the program’s potential to expedite the recovery process for officers and improve their home lives. Officer Justin DiMedio played a key role in facilitating the partnership with PTP.

Jordan Morris, a licensed physical therapist at PTP, expressed enthusiasm about bringing this innovative clinic to Chester County. “It’s a one-of-a-kind clinic and the first of its kind on the East Coast,” Morris stated, underscoring its significance for the region.

Mark Scanlon, Chief of the West Chester Fire Department, noted the broader implications of the clinic, saying, “Beyond the tremendous benefit of having specialized rehab and wellness services available to our firefighters, we believe this partnership will naturally foster more inter-agency communication.” He added that improved collaboration among police, fire, and EMS professionals would directly enhance outcomes in the community.
