Montgomery County Health Inspections Reveal Serious Food Safety Violations
Food safety inspections carried out in Montgomery County have uncovered numerous health violations at various food and drink establishments during the week of November 2-8, 2025. The inspections, conducted by the Montgomery County Office of Public Health (MCOPH), revealed serious issues, including mold growth in walk-in coolers and improper food storage practices.
Each establishment is inspected annually, with additional visits possible if initial violations are noted or complaints are received. Despite these inspections being described as a “snapshot” of cleanliness, many violations are corrected immediately on-site, showcasing a commitment to food safety.
Key Violations Across Multiple Establishments
One significant finding was at the El Patron Mexican Restaurant Y Taquer LLC, located at 10 W Main St, Norristown. The inspection on November 7, 2025, highlighted multiple violations, including a blocked handwashing sink and raw meats improperly stored above ready-to-eat foods. Additionally, the establishment was cited for having fly strips hanging in the kitchen and unclean surfaces.
Another establishment, Charkoal’s Brazilian Steakhouse, at 220 N Gulph Rd, King of Prussia, also faced scrutiny during its inspection on the same day. The report noted that the concentration of chlorine sanitizer in the warewashing machine was below the required level of 50 parts per million, prompting immediate cessation of its use. The facility was instructed to sanitize dishware using a three-basin sink until repairs were completed.
At Tous Les Jours, located at 700 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell, the inspection revealed cleaning products stored next to food items, which could pose a significant contamination risk. Further, employee medicines were found on food preparation surfaces, raising concerns about cross-contamination.
Continued Risks and Required Actions
The MCOPH emphasized the importance of immediate corrective actions. Facilities like Parson’s Barbecue and Korea Garden Restaurant I, Inc. had similar violations regarding the improper storage of raw foods over ready-to-eat items, and both establishments must address these findings promptly.
Inspection reports from several establishments indicate ongoing pest control issues, with rodent droppings noted at various locations, including Dunkin Donuts – SJM Foods LLC and Time Out. Both establishments have been instructed to engage pest control services and provide proof of action within ten business days.
As part of the health inspections, the MCOPH maintains a food safety inspection database that allows the public to view detailed reports for any establishment in the county. Individuals wishing to report foodborne illness after dining at a location can utilize the MCOPH’s complaint form.
The findings from these inspections underscore the critical need for food safety compliance within the county. Establishments are encouraged to prioritize cleanliness and proper food handling practices to ensure the health and safety of their patrons.
