Following his retirement, Doug continued to contribute to the field as a contractor for several years.
Jeanne, a devoted homemaker, also worked as a secretary at the Stewartville United Methodist Church for 14 years. Together, they fostered a nurturing environment for their family, which became the focal point of Doug’s life. He was known for his love of camping, fishing, grilling, and hosting large family gatherings at their home on 5th Avenue SE, where they resided for 54 years before moving to a townhome in Stewartville.
Doug is survived by his wife, Jeanne; his sons, Joel (Kim) Ferguson of Mantorville and Aaron (Missy) Ferguson of Lake City; his daughter, LeaAnn (Jack) Underwood of Racine; his sister, Robin Orth of Austin; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters and two brothers.
